The Beto Remón Gymnasium Temporarily Houses Those Affected by the Calidonia Fire.
Following the fire that consumed a wooden house located on Calle Q, in the Calidonia district, those affected were temporarily housed in the José Beto Remón gymnasium, the Government reported. The disaster affected about 150 people, and the temporary shelter was coordinated with the Panamanian Institute of Sports to receive families who require a place to stay overnight, the Presidency of the Republic reported.

It was indicated that the sports facilities are being adapted to provide suitable accommodation conditions while the social assessment of each family is completed. It was announced that the delivery of supplies to the affected families is being coordinated, such as mattresses, basic necessities, household goods, personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies, among others. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Housing is conducting a survey and evaluation of the affected families to determine their previous housing conditions, family composition, and level of impact.
