What do the AI Giants See in Panama? Google—Meta—Nvidia—Microsoft—Anthropic.

Pictured below is AIG administrator Adolfo Fábrega explained to news media that the country presented its artificial intelligence strategy to technology giants and seeks to become a regional benchmark for the adoption of these technologies.

Panama seeks to position itself before technology giants as a market to implement artificial intelligence solutions, develop use cases and attract investments associated with digital infrastructure, including large data centers.  During the meeting held in New York with executives from companies such as Google, Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple and Anthropic, Panama presented the opportunities that the country offers in terms of digital transformation, connectivity, semiconductors and artificial intelligence.  Adolfo Fábrega, administrator of the National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG), recently arrived from New York, explained at the Café con forum that the country’s strategy is not focused on competing in the creation of large artificial intelligence models, but on becoming a regional benchmark in the application of these technologies.

“We met with Google, Meta, NVIDIA, Microsoft, of course they are the main ones, also Anthropic. We had a very good meeting with Anthropic.”….says Adolfo Fábrega, administrators of the AIG.

Fábrega noted that Panama seeks to leverage artificial intelligence to incorporate it into public services and strategic sectors, such as health, citizen services, and digital platforms.  “For that we can include it in our services, we are already including it in medical teleconsultation, it is in Citizen Services, in Panama Conecta, where the Gemini AI can already be used, that is, the Google layer.” He indicated that the idea was raised that Panama could become a regional laboratory where these companies could implement and demonstrate technological solutions.

“I use your services, so we suggested using Panama as a case study. The truth is, we have an advantage; being so far behind makes it easier for us to reach 100% digital.”…….says Adolfo Fábrega.

According to Fábrega, one of the advantages identified by some companies is that Panama does not face some of the obstacles that other markets with older technological systems have.  “This company told me, the advantage you have is that you don’t have to struggle with legacy systems. Legacy systems are so old that you can’t easily change the processes.”
