Panama is Receiving Heavy Rains Causing Trees to Fall at the Border and Force the Clearing of Roads in Barú.
A storm with heavy rains accompanied by intense winds caused multiple trees to fall on the main roads of Paso Canoas at the border of Costa Rica, as well as Cuervito and San Isidro, also in the border area of the province of Chiriquí. Inclement weather affected mobility in these key sectors of the Barú district, mobilizing security and emergency services. Personnel from the National Border Service (Senafront), the Panama Fire Department, and the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) went to the area to carry out emergency response, damage assessment, and debris removal. After intense days of work, the crews completed cutting and removing the trees in the Cuervito sector. Given the bad weather, Sinaproc recommended that drivers take extra precautions and avoid traveling through the affected areas until the cleaning and clearing of the roads is fully completed.
