Kary Morrell Camargo of Panama is a Talented Shooter.

This uniformed member of the Public Force is an outstanding sports shooter who seeks to make her sport more well known.

Kary Morrell Camargo of Panama won first place in the Optics Lady and Class D categories at the 2026 RTIC Cup, an event that brought together more than 150 shooters from Panama and other countries in the region on July 25 and 26 at the Balboa Shooting Club. It was an international competition sanctioned by the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC).  “The RTIC Cup started last year and I have been competing for the two years it has been running. Last year I got 3rd place in the Production Lady Category,” said Morrell, who is a First Corporal in the National Police.  “I’ve been practicing sport shooting for three years and the truth is, it’s not easy.

You face shooters with a lot of experience, not only from Panama, but also international competitors, and you have to try to be at their level. But it’s not impossible to achieve; with a lot of work, practice, discipline, and consistency, it can be done,” she said.  Her motivation to participate in this type of competition stems from her profession as a member of the Public Force: “I am a police officer, I am an armory mechanic and a shooting range instructor. Being an athlete-shooter is something that goes hand in hand, besides, it is a sport that is gaining strength in Panama and it is very nice to be a part of that.”

Responsible Ownership and Handling:

|“To those who aren’t very fond of guns, perhaps out of fear, I say dare to practice this sport, because once you understand and handle the weapons safely, you can reach a high level,” stated shooter Kary Morrell.  “And as a woman, I’m committed to constant training and demonstrating through my actions that women are also capable of performing an extreme sport like this,” she added.
