Panama Minister of Education Lucy Molinar’s Letter Reveals Irregularity in University Permit Process
The Coneaupa was analyzing an alleged irregularity in the operating permit of a university when the discrepancy arose that resulted in the phrase ‘contaminating the well’, attributed by the executive secretary to Luis Herrera.
An alleged irregularity in the processing of a university’s operating permit was the issue under discussion when a disagreement arose between the acting president of the National Council for University Evaluation and Accreditation of Panama (Coneaupa), Luis Herrera, and the executive secretary of the organization, María del Carmen Terrientes de Benavides, during an extraordinary session held on July 17. In the communication, Molinar points out that the plenary of Coneaupa was deliberating on an irregularity detected in the recent process of granting the operating permit of a university and maintains that this originated in actions of the Executive Secretariat.
CONEAUPA is the National Council of University Assessment and Accreditation (Consejo Nacional de Evaluación y Acreditación Universitaria de Panamá), the official government agency in Panama that checks and approves higher education schools.
