Due to Banned Ingredients Panama’s Ministry of Health Recalls 2 Britney Spears Perfumes

The Ministry of Health ordered the removal of Britney Spears Fantasy and Sunset Fantasy perfumes from the Panamanian market following an international alert that identified the presence of a prohibited ingredient in cosmetic products.

Panama’s Ministry of Health (MINSA) officially canceled the health registrations and ordered the immediate market withdrawal of two Britney Spears perfumes: Britney Spears Fantasy Eau de Parfum Spray and Britney Spears Sunset Fantasy Eau de Toilette Spray. The recall was sparked by a continent-wide safety alert originating from the European Commission’s Safety Gate.

Here are the Specific Details Regarding the Ban

  • The Banned Ingredient: Both perfumes contain BMHCA (2-(4-tert-butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde), also widely known as Lilial.
  • The Health Risk: The EU’s cosmetic regulatory bodies ban this chemical because it is classified as a reprotoxic substance. Prolonged exposure can cause harm to the reproductive system, damage fetal development in pregnant women, and trigger skin sensitization.
  • The Action Taken: MINSA published Resolutions No. 097 and No. 098, which pull all available batches of these two specific products from the Panamanian market to protect public health.
