Police Raid Las Tablas Penitentiary Center & Operation Lockdown at La Joyita Penitentiary
As part of ongoing efforts to maintain control within prisons, units from the 7th Police Zone of Los Santos, in coordination with the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System, conducted a search at the Las Tablas Penitentiary Center. During the operation, the officers located illicit substances, cell phone equipment, bladed weapons, and other prohibited items in the prison. These actions are part of joint efforts aimed at preventing criminal activities, maintaining internal order and ensuring the safety of both the inmates and the staff working at the penitentiary.

The Ministry of Public Security is conducting Operation Lockdown at La Joyita Penitentiary as part of strategic actions aimed at strengthening control, security, and order within the country’s prisons. This operation involves a broad inter-institutional deployment of entities committed to protecting citizens and ensuring the stability of the prison system.

The operation involves 2,494 personnel, including 1,754 members of the National Police, as well as 385 from the National Border Service (SENAFRONT) and 355 from the National Air and Naval Service (SENAN), who are carrying out surveillance, inspection, and search operations in different areas of the prison. These actions aim to prevent illicit activities and ensure compliance with established security protocols.

With this deployment, the Ministry of Public Security reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a firm, coordinated and permanent presence throughout the national territory, strengthening the operational capabilities of the State’s security forces and contributing to the maintenance of public order and national security.
