Classes Suspended in La Chorrera: Warnings about a Suspected Shooting

Moments of concern were experienced at the Guillermo Endara Galimany Educational Center, located in La Chorrera, after messages appeared in the school’s bathrooms warning of an alleged shooting scheduled for April 23.  Given the situation, the school authorities decided to suspend classes in some classrooms due to low student attendance, amid fear generated by the warnings.  The school principal, Leoncio Mendoza pictured below, confirmed that the corresponding protocols were activated after the writings were detected.

“Indeed, some writing was found in the school bathrooms. We were immediately informed and, upon realizing what had happened, we activated the investigation protocols to find those responsible for this situation,” he stated.  Educational authorities have begun investigations to identify those responsible for the messages, while preventive measures remain in place within the school. This type of situation is not isolated. Similar cases of written threats have been reported in other countries, such as Mexico, raising concerns in educational communities about the importance of strengthening security and prevention.
