Experts Warn of Impact on Air Hub as a $10 Transit Fee Returns to Debate
The initiative will be discussed Wednesday, March 25, in the Economy and Finance Committee of the National Assembly, amid warnings from the aviation sector about its impact on competitiveness.
A new debate has been reopened in the country, after the alternate deputy Benicio Robinson González (Democratic Revolutionary Party), from Bocas del Toro, again promoted the draft bill that proposes charging a fee of $10 to travelers in transit through the Tocumen International Airport and other air terminals in the country.

The proposal aims to create the so-called Airport Facilities Usage Fee in Transit, with the supposed objective of capturing part of the high flow of international passengers who use Panama as a hub without entering the country.
