Panama Condemns Iranian Missile Attacks Against Gulf Countries
Panama reaffirmed its commitment to an international order based on rules, respect for sovereignty and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
Panama City, Panama: The Republic of Panama, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned “in the strongest terms” the missile attacks launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran against Gulf States, actions that —according to the official statement— have affected territories of Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In its statement, the Panamanian government described these military actions as a serious violation of the sovereignty of the affected states and a direct threat to international peace and security. It also warned that regional stability cannot be compromised by destabilizing activities, ballistic missile programs, or conduct that endangers civilian populations and strategic infrastructure vital to the global economy.
Panama unequivocally condemned the Iranian aggression against countries in the region and expressed its full solidarity with the affected states. The statement also included a call for Iran to immediately cease all indiscriminate military action and reiterated the urgency of resuming negotiations that lead to an end to tensions, as well as the abandonment of activities that threaten regional stability. Panama reaffirmed its commitment to a rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
In this context, it emphasized that, as a maritime nation and a strategic hub for global trade, security in the Middle East is essential for global energy stability and the free flow of international trade. Panama condemned all types of terrorist actions and reiterated that it will continue working with the international community to promote de-escalation, protect civilian lives and defend effective and responsible multilateralism.
