Three Tons of Drugs by Sea Captured by Senan in a Single Boat
A lot of drugs in a single boat… Can you imagine how much money is changing hands here? The agents managed to stop the vessel and capture the crew.
In a follow-up and interdiction operation, agents of the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN) intercepted a vessel with five crew members transporting more than 3 tons of drugs off the coast of Santa Isabel, on the Costa Arriba of Colón, on January 31. It all began when SENAN detected a suspicious speedboat that attempted to flee. After several minutes of pursuit on the high seas, agents managed to stop the vessel and capture the crew.
Coordination was established with the Colón and Guna Yala Drug Prosecutor’s Office to transfer the detainees, the boat, and the suspected drugs to the Admiral Cristóbal Colón Naval Air Base. There, the Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the seizure of 3,029 packages of suspected illicit substance, in addition to one extra package. According to SENAN, so far in 2026, the Aeronaval has managed to confiscate more than 10 tons of drugs (10,275 packages) in seven operations, reinforcing the fight against drug trafficking in the region.
