Ricardo Sosa the Son of Venezuela’s María Corina Machado Attended CAF 2026 in Panamá
Ricardo Machado pictured below, son of Venezuelan leader María Corina Machado, attended the Latin America and Caribbean International Economic Forum 2026 (CAF 2026) held in Panama City. As he explained to news media, his visit to the country was solely related to activities inherent to his professional practice.
Ricardo Sosa Machado, son of Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado , was present at the Latin America and Caribbean International Economic Forum 2026 (CAF 2026) , which took place in Panama between January 28 and 29 and brought together leaders, high officials and representatives of the business and academic world of the region. The presence of Ricardo Sosa generated interest among accredited journalists, who sought his perspective on his mother’s participation in the regional political debate and on the situation in Venezuela. However, Sosa declined to comment on political or family matters.

He told Newsroom Panama that his participation in Panama was strictly limited to matters related to his professional work. In a brief exchange with news media, the son of the Venezuelan leader declined to comment on his mother’s role in Venezuelan politics or her views on the country’s crisis. His stance mirrored that of other attendees not accredited as official delegates, who preferred to focus on the forum’s discussions regarding economic development, regional integration, and proposals for multilateral cooperation.
CAF 2026, organized by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), solidified its position as a key forum for dialogue among governments, businesses, and civil society representatives on global and regional challenges such as digital transformation, the energy transition, and social cohesion. The event’s agenda included the participation of seven heads of state, presidents-elect, and international experts in economics and public policy. Although he did not offer comments on Venezuelan politics, Ricardo Sosa Machado’s attendance drew the attention of observers because of his family’s political background and the media interest in the positioning of figures linked to opposition leaders in Latin America.
