22 Kilos of Gold Destined for Panama is Seized by Authorities

According to authorities, three alleged accomplices were arrested in connection with this incident, including a terminal employee.

Paraguay’s National Police seized 22 kilograms of gold ingots, valued at three million dollars, at the country’s main airport on Saturday.  The gold was destined for Panama. Three alleged accomplices were arrested, including an airport official.  “We proceeded with the arrest of the individuals involved including a public official and two private citizens—and the seizure of approximately 22 kilograms of the precious metal,” said Commissioner Luis López, head of the National Police’s Organized Crime Department, to ABC Cardinal radio.  The detainees are Paraguayan nationals, according to media reports.
