More than a Ton of Suspected Drugs Seized on a Ship Transiting through Panama 

The National Police reported seizing 1,858 packages of suspected drugs in Colón during Operation Safe Dawn. The cargo was in transit to Hamburg, Germany.

Margarita Island’s Port is in Jeopardy

A judge orders the seizure of 50 properties due to a dispute between investors.  PCCP, the company promoting a container port on Margarita Island, Colón, could lose its most valuable assets due to various administrative and judicial actions.

Panama’s Cobre Mine Recently Shipped $89 Million worth of Copper Concentrate

The first shipment recovered 8,248 tons of copper and 3,759 ounces of gold. The sale provided funds to finance maintenance work, pay salaries, and environmental preservation at the mine.  The mine maintains 1,300 active workers in maintenance and environmental management tasks while preparing for the restart of the power plant in October.
