Reactions After Cancellation of the Telephone Conversation Between President Mulino and Donald Trump

Panama City, Panama: The last-minute cancellation of the long-awaited telephone conversation between the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino , and his American counterpart Donald Trump has generated multiple reactions from Panamanian political and business sectors, who agree on the need to maintain a firm stance in the face of the situation.  In the afternoon, the Presidency of Panama announced through a statement on the social network “X” that the rescheduling responded to unforeseen changes in the agenda of the American president, according to White House officials. The bilateral call, scheduled for this past Friday, February 7 at 3:30 p.m., would be rescheduled on a date that will be announced later.  “The fact that the call was cancelled minutes after it was made seems to send a message that it was not important to attend to the president or that it was not so important within the agenda to address the issue of the Panama Canal,” said Congresswoman Walkiria Chandler, who also urged the Executive to handle the issue of sovereignty “with the dignity that all Panamanians should give it.”
