By  Margot Thomas

CANTUS  Panama, One of Panama’s most treasured choral groups will be performing at Panama’s historic Saint Luke’s Episcopal Cathedral in Ancon on Sunday-June 2,  at 3:00pm, to raise funds for the continuing restoration of the building and to assist community outreach programs  AMENA  and the Food Pantry.

Cantus directed by Kristen Saltonstall, will present  ”The Americas”  a concert of music and song from across the continent accompanied by invited guests,  Jan Bishop on the Harp and accompanied by Abdiel Goddard on the organ.

AMENA, Amor en Acción (Love in Action) is a non-profit organization which, in collaboration with the Cathedral, prepares meals once, or twice, a month for family members of patients at the Panama Oncology Institute who often travel long distances to the cancer center and have little or no economic resources to buy a meal.

The Food Pantry is open on Tuesday and Thursday to distribute bags of food and other necessary personal items to homeless people. The Women’s Group Thrift Store and other donors also provide shoes and clothing to those in need.

The concert starts at  3 pm and your donation of $10 will not only guarantee a rewarding afternoon of entertainment but will also help sustain valuable community endeavors.
