OPINION: The absurdity of Mayor Fabrega running for reelection
Never before has the capital district had a mayor as controversial as he is incapable and who lasted so long in office. Even so, it is possible that the ruling party – which is not far from his style and management – will nominate him for re-election. The question that we voters have to ask ourselves is why this official deserves to stay in office for five more years. What has his administration done to improve the lives of the inhabitants of the city? The decoration, the lights and the Christmas parade? The increase in municipal taxes of which he did not notify anyone, not even his deputy mayor? Is there any important work? We cannot even speak well of his transparency or of his ideas – which have not gone beyond that – for the city. The mayor of the capital may deserve many things, but not to remain in office for another five years. If he is reelected, the mayor’s office will return – as it has done up to now – to go back years, perhaps decades. The PRD boasts of having rescued works that other governments left halfway, but does not say a word about the projects that this official has despised and allowed to lose, simply because they are not under his management. That’s how absurd this character is. – LA PRENSA, Aug. 27.
