When a politician becomes camera shy

Politicians rarely see a camera they don’t like. But former president Ernesto Perez Balladares had filed a complaint before a San Francisco magistrate to keep the press away from his home.

The former president, who is now under house arrest and facing a corruption investigation, has objected to aphotographer waiting outside his home, in public, to take a picture.
Sabrina Bacal, news director of TVN, said he was "surprised" at the request of Perez Balladares. And the editor of El Siglo, Jean Marcel Chéry, criticized the action. As a denial of freedom of the press.

 

The photographer Edward Ortiz of La Prensa was on the sidewalk outside the house of Perez Balladares The former president claimed that this violated his and his family’s privacy.
