Poll calls for change in PRD leadership.

In most democratic countries a shattering electoral defeat would mean a falling of heads in the heirachy of the routed party.
While this seems to have escaped the PRD, (the Democratic Revolutionary Party), 64 percent of citizens responding to a survey said the party needs to change its leadership to take it in a new direction.
The survey conducted by the Unimer International on behalf of La Prensa consisted of more than 1,200 interviews and was carried out earlier this month.
One of the questions asked by pollsters was, "Regardless of whether or not you support the PRD, what do you think of the party’s leadership?"
Some 64.2 percent of the respondents said it should replace its leaders, while 14.8 percent said there should be a partial change. Some 6 percent said no changes should be made in its leadership.
The results were similar when the responses by people who identified themselves as PRD supporters were removed from the overall total.
Of the PRD supporters, 57.6 percent suggested a total change in leadership, while 23.9 percent suggested a partial change. Some 10 percent supported maintaining the current leaders.
The survey also asked: which former president would you vote for if they ran again?
Most of those asked, 51.1 percent, wouldn’t support any of them. Ernesto Pérez Balladares was named by 7 percent of the respondents, trailing Mireya Moscoso (13.9 percent) and Martín Torrijos (23 percent.)
