Martinelli kills crisis rumors

Panama’s rumor mills continue to run  in high gear. President Ricardo Martinelli, Said yesterday afternoon in Las Tablas, province of Los Santos that the deputy Attorney General, Giuseppe Bonissi, is not leaving office.

Rumors have been swirling that he was heading to become an electoral judge, which is usually a near life time appointment.
La Estrella had reported that a series of last-minute moves signaled a new crisis in the Public Ministry. Circles of criminal lawyers said there was talk that there will be changes at the highest level, and Bonossi would replace Electoral Court judge Gerardo Solis.

 

The speculation erupted on Tuesday afternoon when the newly appointed assistant district attorney Giovanny Olmos was moved to San Miguelito . Some sources told La Estrella that the resignation of Bonissi would take place on Monday, after returning from a conference of attorneys in Argentina and that on Tuesday, the Cabinet would choose his replacement.

Meanwhile, Ana Matilde Gomez, who has been  suspended fromher office of Attorney General waits on the sidelines.
