Number of people poisoned by Social Security medicine will never be known

Four years after scores of people died from taking medicine contaminated with diethylene glycol it has been announced that the The number of people who were affected will never be known . 
Special prosecutor, Dimas Guevara, who has been leading the investigation into the scandal of October 2006, said that this will be a "dark figure".

He explained That There are multiple factors preventing determination of the exact number of patients Who took contaminated drugs distributed by in the Social Security Fund (CSS)
Guevara said that 6,764 764 medicine bottles, returned by CSS patients Between 2005 and 2007, tested positive for diethylene glycol, Only halfcarried the name of the person fpr whom It was prescribed, and some medicine could have been taken by others who and not reportedbecause of fear.

Over 110 000 prescriptions were were given to patients needing expectorant syrup, many may not have reported poison symptoms
Around 150 people are known to have died and relatives are still battling for compensation.
