Falling prices could speed solar energy for Panama
A 40 percent drop in prices for products powered by solar or electrical energy, has opened a window for Panama residents and businesses to install solar panels says Energy Secretary Juan Urriola
Solar panels can be installed in homes to heat water, or neon signs for businesses, and by law consumers can connect to the distribution network to sell off excess energy generated to electricity companies.
He mentioned a family in of San Carlos that has installed a system of solar panels to meet their energy needs for air conditioners, lamps, and other household appliances.
Urriola said that many beach houses and other residences could use this alternative to reduce dependence on energy from fossil sources.
