Investigation into a top Panama cop underway
National Police Director Gustavo Pérez says that an investigation has been launched into the activities of Deputy Commissioner Mauricio Nelson who was fired last week after traces of drugs were found in vehicles assigned to the police zone of Colón, which was under his command.
Perez said the investigation should be allowed to run its course before any presumption of guilt or innocence is made in the case.
Nelson has denied any kind of link with activities related to drug trafficking and says he never used any of the vehicles that tested positive for drugs.
