In flight engine fire and poor maintenance earns airline $50,000 fine

Failures in maintenance, led to an in flight engine fire and ,two  emergency landings   on the weekend and brought  a $50,000 fine for  Panamanian regional airline Aeroplerlas.

The fine was imposed by the The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for incidents that occurred  with two of its aircraft.
On Friday,Octobe 8 an ATR aircraft made an emergency landing with 46 passengers aboard when one of its engines caught fire The next day, another aircraft of the same company made an emergency landing at the airport Marcos A. Gelabert in Albrook. due to a burning smell in the cockpit.
The CAA launched an investigation into the incidents, and found that the airline failed to follow proper maintenance procedures.
