Panama’s Rivera signs $30 million contract
Mariano Rivera is one Panamanian who will not have to worry about a jubilado (retiree) pension.
At 41, he has just has signed a two-year, $30 million contract to continue playing for the New York Yankees.
Rivera, the Yankees closer, and most valuable player of the World Series had 33 saves in 45 games this year. He has served the Yankees for 15 seasons.
Carlos Lee,34, another Panamanian big leaguer who plays for the Houston Astros, is back home for the holiday season. He says that he is "100 percent healthy" after an injury plagued season and is ready to lead his team in 2011.
