El Valle seeking gateway improvements
The view over el El Valle de Anton from an “observatory” 600 meters above sea level is spectacular.
Regarded as the gateway to the famed town nestled in the crater of a massive extinct volcano the viewpoint is a favorite stopping place for camera clicking tourists who can look down on forests of pine trees.
The downside is that the location has no facilities, such as restrooms. There is only an aging concrete platform with few places to sit down.
Local residents are calling for the area to be improved.
El Valle artist Efraín Trujillo said that minor improvements to the site could make a big difference in the number of people stopping there.
Local representative Julio Rodríguez also believes that the site should be improved with a first step being to order the removal of old signs which dot the area.
