Administration of Justice in crisis civil groups
The resignation of Supreme Court Judge José Abel Almengor is a sign that the administration of justice in Panama is in crisis claimed civil society representatives on the steps of the Court on Friday, April 15.
Almengor, hand picked by President Ricardo Martinelli resigned Thursday,after being in office for only 15 months and was facing investigation and a possible trial by the National Assembly
The protesters were there to request that the Executive not interfere in the administration of justice.
They included, representatives of the Citizens Alliance, Citizens' Assembly, the National Bar Association, and others and called on the judges of the Supreme Court to ensure transparency.
