Pensioners back to the streets claiming Martinelli has not kept word

The leader of the Association of Independent Retirees, Eladio Fernandez said Thursday morning that president, Ricardo Martinelli has not kept his promise to increase pensions and srteet protests will continue.

 Fernandez said that pensioners do not want the graduated increase of their pensions as approved by the Cabinet on Tuesday August 16.

 He said on TVN News that other increases granted by this Government have been granted automatically and cited the National Police who received an across the board increase.

The group  leader also complained about the care received by those insured under Social Security Fund (CSS) and warned that urgently needed drugs are missing.

In order to enable the incremental increase of up to $50 a month to retirees and pensioners, the government presented to the National Assembly a reform to Law No.51, organic CSS.

Fernandez announced that Friday  at noon a march to the Presidency will be held  to demand higher pensions and protests, that have been held in in Plaza 5 de Mayo will continue.
