Martinelli style of government affecting democracy: Galindo
Mario J. Galindo, a lawyer and prominent figure in the Panamanian political scene has warned that the governing style of President Ricardo Martinelli is affecting democracy in the country.
In an exclusive interview with La Prensa he said that in his view, the independent media are the only obstacle facing Martinelli, who already controls the legislative and judicial organs.
Galindo rejected outright the brazen turncoats in political parties, which speaks directly to the reasons for the breakup of the ruling alliance between the Democratic Change (CD) and the Panamenista Party,
The split occurred on August 30 after the president dismissed the Panamenista president and the country’s Vice President Juan Carlos Varela, from the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
