More water woes in Punta Pacifica
Water woes continue in Punta Pacifica, variously described as Panama’s most prestigious district, and a "concrete "ghetto".
On Thursday, February 23, a 16- inch water pipe burst, leading to fresh street flooding which has plagued the area for months and threw a major damper on the official opening of the controversial Trump Tower by the man whose name it carries,Donald Trump.
For the Association of Residents and Owners of Punta Pacifica, who have paid heavily to live in the prestigious location, enougn is enough. They have filed an application to the water and sewer authority (Idaan) for information verifying the conditions under which the state agency received the pipes of the development in 2010.
Ivan Blasser, president of the association, said the request was made last week and Idaan have 30 days to respond.
"In 2009, the Public Service Authority ordered Idaan not receive the pipes until ICA Panama, completed rep[airs.
"We want to see where Idaan report certifies that the repairs were made," he told La Prensa. The legal department of Idaan is analyzing the situation, but made no statements.
