Cabinet to meet on Mulino resignation, no crisis –Martinelli
The resignation of Panama Security Minister Jose Raul Mulino will be addressed by the Cabinet next week says
De Lima said on RPC Radio that all ministers will have the opportunity to be briefed, because so far they only know what the media has reported.
President, Ricardo Martinelli, denied, Saturday, March 10, that there is a crisis in his government and said that on Monday March 12 he will announce changes. He indicated that the resignation of Mulino over remarks made by his subordinate, police chief, Gustavo Perez, has been overblown by the media.
De Lima said on RPC Radio that all the posts of ministers are available to be changed when the President so decides and "you can also give up when you want." "It's a decision Mulino made." he said. De Lima, got his present post after the last high profile resignation of Finance Minister Alberto Vallarino, following the removal of Juan Carlos Varela as foreign minister, a move that led to the dissolution of the CD-Panamenista governing coalition.
Mulino irrevocably resigned the post of security minister after controversy arose between him and the National Police director, who argued against a bill endorsed by Cabinet that sought to create of a single office of internal affairs. Mulino considered his subordinate violated the democratic system through illegal and unconstitutional actions.
