Opponents consider criminal charge against former mayor

Panama’s former mayor, Bosco Ricardo Vallarino, could face a criminal charge for lying about his dual nationality, says a former mayoral candidate.

Roberto Bobby Velásquez, said Sunday, March 25, that two complaints will be lodged against the election process of Vallarino.

The complaint would be filed next week in conjunction with ex mayoralty candidates Miguel Antonio Bernal and Miguel Batista.

"We continue with our attorneys to evaluate the case and will  probably interpose next week. We are considering  a criminal complaint and an appeal for annulment of the elections," said Velasquez.

The criminal complaint against Vallarino would be for lying about  his dual nationality and the other seeking invalidation of elections and the conducting of new elections.
