New transport boss moves into traffic snarl hot seat

Government Minister, Jorge Ricardo Fabrega is convinced that the fourth new transport boss since the Martinelli administration began, can do the job.

Speaking on Tuesday July 24, when the appointment was approved by the National  Assembly,  Fabrega said  that Ventura Vega Osorio as director of the Transit Authority (ATTT), can meet the challenges he will face in office, especially the implementation of the road realignment plan that has been bedeviling drivers and transport companies.

"We are confident in his ability to negotiate and talk with the sectors who are engage inn  these issues," said Fabrega. and  with Vega at the head of the ATTT, there will be an effort to make the persistent traffic jams in the capital city more bearable.

Vega will continue  with the talks, which  have been ongoing since November last year with the Chamber of Commerce and others to define the schedule of delivery trucks. The ATTT  will advocate that the schedule is at night, and that will decrease vehicle traffic in the capital said

He added that the new director of the ATTT would  address unfinished issues, such as compensation to diablos rojos operators, monitoring the driver education program and collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works regarding the side effects of  the road realignment plan that has generated huge jams in the capital. Vega,  asked for the  support and understanding of  city residents referring to the different projects being activated simultaneously  like  the Metro Line and the road realignment.
