New transit boss adds more cops to streamline traffic jams

The new director of Panama’s Transit Authority  (ATTT),  Ventura Vega, has announced the posting of more cops on the streets to “streamline” traffic jams.

 On Wednesday, August 1, Ventura, the fourth man to sit in the transport hot seat since the Martinelli government came to power, said that a greater number of agents of both the Traffic Directorate of the National Police and the ATTT will be allocated to streamline jams in the city.

Vega said that although it is " not an easy  situation not " to control the jams are going to have the  physical presence of  more traffic police on the streets, especially in those in which at "peak hours"  there is severe traffic congestion .

He added that collaboration will be sought from  roadwork  contractors, as often at peak times  streets designed for transit are ”full of holes slowing down traffic.”

Vega said it was important that "we all do our bit to make this situation we are momentarily experiencing, more bearable for all Panamanians".
