Potters Hermonie rumored for masochistic sex role

Fifty Shades of Grey, which like the first Harry Potter best seller wows or enrages the critics of pulp fiction,  is now moving into the merry go round of the show biz rumor mill scribblers.

The Week has trolled some of  the movie buzz litterati:

RUMORS have been circulating on the internet that Emma Watson, who plays Hermione in the Harry Potter films, could be in the frame for the role of Anastasia Steele in the upcoming film adaptation of the erotic bestseller 50 Shades of Grey.

Speculation was sparked by a report on Showbizspy claiming that the films' producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti considered Watson not only talented, but also innocent-looking enough to fit the bill.
"Could it be?" asked celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. "Could our beloved Hermione Granger really be entering the Red Room of Pain?"
But soon after the rumours appeared De Luca and Brunetti took to Twitter to deny them. Brunetti wrote: "All of the rumors on FiftyShades are just that – rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first."
Perhaps that's just as well given the negative reaction by some fans and commentators to the prospect of Watson in the erotic film about a young woman's masochistic submission to an emotionally and physically abusive billionaire called Christian Grey.
One fan tweeted their alarm: "Emma Watson swaps wand for whip?!" Another their horror: "If Emma Watson stars in 50 Shades of Grey my childhood will be ruined."
Others thought it was just bad casting, with one fan tweeting: "Emma was good in the Potter films but she is SO wrong for Ana."
Camira Powell writes on website Policymic that she has a hard time imagining innocent Emma Watson "enacting all of the sordid encounters from the book". While Watson is talented, says Powell, "this might be one movie where less is more".
Watson's own past comments also make it seem unlikely that she would be up for the steamy role. In 2010, she told OK! magazine that the highly anticipated screen kiss between her Potter character Hermione and another character, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), "was horribly awkward; we couldn't stop laughing".
Other actresses mooted for the role so far include Scarlett Johansson and Kristen Stewart from the Twilight films. .
