Party leader Martinelli on the attack
President, Ricardo Martinelli, in his role as leader of the Democratic Change (CD) party, returned to the attack on three of his favorite targets on Sunday September 2.
At a CD convention he delivered a harsh speech against the political opposition, the media and the Electoral Tribunal (TE).
Martinelli, who chaired the special convention to renew CD statutes, said thatthe opposition, including his former coalition partners, "have joined the Guacho Front" (referring to the Front for Democracy).
He criticized the electronic voting moves of the TE and criticized their management. At the same time he asked his followers to "redouble" their efforts to repeat in 2014.
Following approval of the changes to the bylaws, the CD is preparing to renew and strengthen its organizational structures before year's end and, in 2013 Martinelli said, will be choosing its presidential candidate in the primaries.
