Health workers pay raise promised for Friday
Social Security Director Guillermo Sáez-Llorens said today that health workers will get the pay increases promised to them during negotiations that ended a strike earlier this year.
La Prensa says he made the announcement after some 5000 health workers announced a protest march to demand that the government follow the agreements that were reached.
Saez-Llorens said that the pay increase would go into effect Friday, October 12. He said the intention was always to implement the pay increase in mid-October, and the agency was simply doing what it had promised.Union leader Jorge Pérez said that nearly 5,000 professionals are waiting for authorities to fulfil their commitments.
