Government spokesman lodges ethics complaint.
Cambio Democratic stalwart Luis Eduardo Camacho, who serves as the government’s spokesperson has issued as complaint against La Prensa for violating the electoral ethical pact that his party has not signed.
He sent a note sent to the Archbishop, José Domingo Ulloa, saying the newspaper violated the pact Thursday, March 7.
According to Camacho, a claim made in Thursday’s edition, of the column “As Is,” signed by Flor Mizrachi Angel was "a lie"
In the column Mizrachi Angel says: "Onewho has a website where he writes his opinions and other barbs is Luis Eduardo Camacho. But what is striking is who is advertising on that page: no less than the national government. Panamanian taxpayers, do you see where your money is? "
Camacho told Ulloa that the statement is false, and that he " has not held, since December 1, 2011, any advertising contract with the State personally or through my company."
He said that the state propaganda on his on his website promotes the work of the Government, but it does not charge.
He asked Ulloa to transferring its complaint to the commission to evaluate ethical violations of electoral pact.
The petition received by the Archbishop of Panama, was signed by Camacho, but without putting his position in the current administration. He explained that he did so because the column referred to hi,by name and not as a member of Democratic Change and as secretary of Government Communication.
Democratic Change and Nationalist Republican Liberal Movement were the only parties who on Wednesday did not sign the electoral ethical pact promoted by the Catholic Church in Panama.
"Regardless of our views on the document and whether it should be signed or not, as a citizen I have the right to request a moral sanction against those who lie about facts concerning my person," said Camacho at the end of his note to Ulloa.
President Ricardo Martinelli, later took up the cry.
