Pensioners to get 20% raise in election year

Election year, 2014,  will see a jump in the "100 for 70" program which gives pensioners 70 and above, $100 a month.

 Social Development Minister Guillermo Ferrufino made the announcement Tuesday April 2 while refuting claims by opposition presidential candidate, Juan Carlos Varela. that the program was proposed by the Panameñista party and was founded while the party was part of the ruling alliance.

Ferrufino, says the new allowance will be $120 a month. He was speaking at the opening of the first day of training for the "Active aging" program in Curundú, said that the social initiative has no "owners."
Ferrufino, has also announced that he will run for the CD nomination for the mayor of Panama.
