Spain pays tribute to Balboas discovery

THE SPANISH naval training ship Juan Sebastian Elcano  marked the 85th anniversary of its maiden voyage by laying a wreath at Panama’s monument to Vasco Nunez de Balboa.

The event took place on Friday, April 19 on the Cinta Costera. The four masted sailing vessel is visiting Panama ports.
The activity was part of the ongoing calendar of events to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Pacific Ocean by Vasco Nunez de Balboa, And the offering, as "a sign of respect to all the Panamanian people," said the Spain’s ambassador to Panama, Jesus Silva.
