Panamas agenda for meeting of regional heads with Obama

PANAMA'S government on Wednesday May 1 put forward it’s agenda suggestions for the meeting of Central American presidents with President Barack Obama on Saturday.

Top of the agenda, says a message from the Foreign Ministry. should be collective efforts to promote economic growth and sustainable development in the region.

Interim Chancellor Mayra I. Arosemena, said that the occasion will also be conducive to reiterate the continued collaboration on regional security and ran off a list security achievements Including, the recent creation of the Terrorism Analysis Directorate which has the responsibility to coordinate and monitor the fight against cyber-terrorism, transnational crime, drug trafficking, money laundering and related crimes, as well as matters relating to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
She said the bi-regional meeting was propitious to increase, expand and deepen the channels of communication and cooperation between Central American partners and allies such as Canada, USA and Mexico.
Arosemena said that the incorporation of Canada in the form of bi-regional security cooperation is a milestone in hemispheric integration and formalizes the growing links already developed with the Canadian government.
