Navarro promises investigation of corruption and no-bid contracts

PRD PRESIDENTIAL candidate Juan Carlos Navarro on Wednesday May 22 repeated his promise , if elected, to chase down members of the current administration guilty of corruption.

He also promised to open investigations into contracts issued under the current administration.

Navarro said that he will open those investigations to look at cost overruns and the avoidance of public bidding standards.
The latest direct contract furor, small potatoes compared to other projects, is over the payment of $250,00 to a CD supporter for creating a website for the country’s ombudsperson. Since coming to power the government has handed out no-bid contracts totaling hundreds of millions of dollars.
"I will do everything in my power to make an investigation into any allegations of corruption," said Navarro, adding that he will also investigate further the independence of the judicial system.
