Panama Canal well placed to win international award
THE PANAMA CANAL stands a good chance of winning the Prince of Asturias Award For International Cooperation.
Spain's ambassador to Panama, Jesus Silva, who originally nominated the canal for the prestigious award, made the statement on Monday June 10. Over 34,000 people supported the Canal’s candidacy
The winner of the award, or which there are of 25 nominations,will be announced Wednesday, June 12.
Silva said in a press conference, that the candidacy of the Seaway is well poised.
because of the major events to be held during 2013 and because the Canal is one unifier among nations, peoples and businessmen.
Through the website micanaldepanama.com / asturias, 19, 899 people signed up electronically to support to the application.
Another 13, 045 signed a letter on paper, addressed to the President of the Prince of Asturias Award.
