Mayor claims support of First Lady in bid for reelection

MAYOR ROXANA MENDEZ, says that she has the backing of the Panama’s First Lady, Marta Linares de Martinelli, in her quest for reelection.

Speaking on Telemetro reports she also said said she has not been notified of an alleged investigation by the Electoral Office.

Mendez, who has one year and three months as mayor of Panama, said that she has always been within the rules and ethics, "it is for me most important."
When asked whether the alleged investigation is  “friendly fire” Mendez said she did not know where the fire came from.
Of the first lady’s support for her bid to stay in office Mendez said :"Of course she is supporting me, she always told me you should aspire Roxana … she gave encouragement to seek reelection, "
Mendez said that she and Linares de Martinelli have a relationship of "long-standing" not only within the Democratic Change party, but also on a personal level.
