More Metro buses promised by month end

PANAMA’S Transit Authority (ATTT) has received the first $34,200 in fines levied on the operators of the Metro Bus service says the Authority’s director Roberto Morino.

The fines of $1,148 a day were imposed on Mi Bus SA on March 26 for poor service.

They totaled $34,200, which was paid two weeks ago. The fines were imposed until Mi Bus added routes and reduced waiting times. The company made the changes before the amount of the fine doubled, Moreno said.
Metro financial manager Sonda has paid the first fine imposed on it by the ATTT for not having enough points in place to re-charge the Metro cards. Moreno said that the second fine has not yet been paid but he expects the fine to be paid by the end of the month.
The ATTT director announced that five new routes began to operate on Monday July 1. The same number of buses were in operation, but they followed a different schedule to incorporate the new routes.
