60 injured as diablo rojo flips
AT LEAST 60 people were injured early Friday morning, July 5 when a crowded bus flipped on the Chorrera-Arraijan highway.
They are the latest in the still growing list of dead, injured and maimed in the grim history of discarded US school buses (diablos rojos) on Panama roads
The bus, was traveling from El Coco in La Chorrera to Panama City. It flipped after going into a ravine in Montelimar.
Ambulances from the 911 system and the Red Cross transferred many of the injured to the Nicolás Solano Hospital in La Chorrera and a fleet of private cars helped carry some 26 injured passengers to the hospital. The accident caused long delays on the road.
Pólice and firefighters are investigating the cause of the incident.
