diablos rojos compensation mired in legalities

FOUR MONTHS after the last of the diablos rojos were pulled from the streets of Panama, 243 former owners have yet to received promised compensation.

The buses were decommissioned to make way for the Metro buses and the compensation process was left in the hands of the Transit Authority (ATTT)

The delay is attributed to remain pending legal matters for many of the drivers says Nicolas Brea, secretary general of the Transportistas Association.
"Seizures leins,, mortgages, and eceivers and buses in disrepair, are some of the reasons why drivers have not been compensated Brea said, explaining that the Comptroller General's Office required to all owners to be free of any entanglements before processing compensation payments
The secretary of the National Transport Chamber (Canatra), Esteban Rodriguez, acknowledged that there are some drivers who have legal matters pendin issues and have the required documentation and called on the ATTT to speed up the process.
Most of the Diablos Rojos left Panama March 15 and the ATTT began the distribution of $20 million in compensation.
