Only 28% would vote for Martinelli if allowed to run – poll

PRESIDENT Ricardo Martinelli, the leading figure of the ruling Democratic Change (CD) party would not be reelected even if the Constitution allowed it says a new poll.

The survey commissioned by La Prensa and conducted by Quantix Panama. Says 67% of the 2,190 respondents said no to voting for Martinelli, against 28% who would give him the vote.

The poll was conducted across the country August 16-19 and has a margin of error of 2.81 percentage points
Faced with criticism of megalomania, Martinelli in February 2012 promised not to seek re-election, and said that when he leaves the presidency, in 2014, “then I will have more power.”
The full results of the survey will be published on Wednesday in the Pulse of the Nation.
