Judge named to handle Chief Justice ethics complaint

THE ETHICS complaint filed last week against Panama Supreme Court Chief Justice Alejandro Moncada Luna, will come before Judge Victor Benavides, who has been named the rapporteur.

The complaint was filed by the Bar Association for ethics violations against Moncada Luna and alternate judges Gabriel Fernández and Efrén Tello.

The complaint calls for the removal of the three judges, the maximum sanction provided for in article 458 of the Judicial Code.
They are accused of violating the Constitution by reversing a decision of the Electoral Tribunal on a campaign issue.
