Martinelli declares war on graffiti

ONE WEEK after the artistic movement , 'The Kolectivo'  protested against the removal of murals on Avenida Des Martires  President Martinellis has declared war on graffiti in public places.

"What you paint will be painted over” he said.

The erased graffiti that led to the Kolectivo protest were painted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the patriotic deeds of January 9 1964.
Lino Garibaldi , a member of 'The Kolectivo ' said he did not understand why the government bans paint in public spaces. "and on Friday, November 29. members of the painted the mural for a second time.
Martinelli said that any artistic expression can be exposed in public spaces without authorization will be removed.
Attorney Victor Almengor said there is no rule prohibiting paintings  in public spaces. The regulation, he said, exists only for sites under the category of historical heritage. In the case of bridges and roads , the Ministry of Public Works has the authority to authorize the painting,  he said.

Martin Torrillos, prizes were awarded to graffiti artists to work on the fences surrounding the construction site.
